Ebbene sì, oggi non vi presenterò un artista ma un libro. In Italia, si sa, l'unico modo per imparare le tecniche di lavorazione delle paste sintetiche è, oltre che ovviamente praticare e sperimentare, leggere leggere leggere. I corsi "dal vivo" infatti sono introvabili. E allora fonte di informazioni, insieme al meraviglioso calderone di internet, sono i libri scritti da artiste di esperienza e di talento. Uno di questi è Making Polymer clay beads di Carol Blackburn. Lo stile di scrittura semplice e conciso e la profusione di immagini rendono possibile una facile comprensione anche a chi l'inglese lo mastica soltanto. Il libro è diviso in 4 sezioni: la prima sezione è una panoramica sulle tecniche, gli strumenti e i materiali da usare - ogni tecnica è spiegata con chiarezza di parole ed immagini con passo-a-passo dettagliati: qui troverete istruzioni su come imitare materiali vari (avorio, turchese, argento...), su come usare il foil, le porporine e le murrine, e molto altro ancora. Nella seconda troviamo le istruzioni per creare vari tipi e forme di perle, nella terza ci viene spiegato come comporre le perle in bracciali, collane, ecc ed infine nella quarta troviamo una splendida galleria di lavori dei suoi artisti preferiti.Un libro di riferimento sia per chi inizia che per chi cerca ispirazione. Lo consiglio.
Yes, today I won't feature an artist, but a book. In Italy, unfortunately, the only way to learn the polymer clay techniques is not only to practice and test, of course, but also to read read readi. "Live" workshops in fact are out of reach. So the main source of information, along with the wonderful cauldron of  Internet, are books written by experienced and talented artists. One of these is Making Polymer Clay Beads by Carol Blackburn. The simple and concise writing style and the profusion of images make it possible an easy understanding even to those who don't know English well. The book is divided into four sections: the first section is an overview of the techniques, tools and materials to use - every technique is explained with clear words and images by detailed step-by-steps: here you will find directions about the faux techniques (ivory, turquoise, silver ...), about foils, powders and canes making, and much more. In the second one we find the instructions for creating various types and shapes of beads, the third one describes how to compose bracelets, necklaces, etc. and finally the fourth one is a wonderful gallery of works of its favorite artists.A reference book for both beginners and who is looking for inspiration. I recommend it.
